an aspiring hermit living at Catholic Solitudes I have been researching
the lives and writings of hermits past and present. My work is hit
and miss based on the books and other notes that happen to be available
to me now. Therefore, entries are not based on the historical importance
of the hermit so don't be surprised if some of the most famous or
your favorite is not yet included. For the purposes of this web
I am including only hermits of the Christian tradition.
I
have divided the quotations into these themes: Tales from the
Lives of Hermits; Solitude and Silence, the divine longing for
the human heart; Joy and Freedom of Spirit; Absorption in Christ;
Spiritual Warfare; and Advice to those in the World.
I
plan to keep adding to these pages as I go along so come back
a few months from now to check for more.
