"I
will lead you to the desert,
and I will speak to your heart"
Hosea 2.10
A
Work of Prayer
Catholic
Solitudes is a work of contemplative prayer, a prayer of the
heart. Encountering the Person of Jesus is the center of our
life. It is a mission for todays world, darkened by sin
and suffering, yet brightened by faith and hope in Jesus. Rooted
in the tradition of the Catholic Church through great figures
such as Charles de Foucauld and Thomas Philippe (Co-founder
of LArche) and faithful to the Churchs Magisterium,
Catholic Solitudes desires to respond to Pope John Paul IIs
call for a new evangelization. To people of today, especially
to youth, we extend a challenge to discover through the heart
"all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge" hidden
in Jesus Christ (Col. 2,2). This is the goal of Catholic Solitudes.
We accomplish this work of prayer in surroundings of nature
and solitude. Since the earliest times of Christianity, solitude
and the experience of the "desert" have been valued
as settings for contemplative prayer. Likewise today a solitary
setting in natural surroundings can be helpful for those who
want to deepen the life of the heart.
